Who is the course for?

Basic English Course for those whose first language is not English.

What level is the course?

Entry 1B

What previous knowledge/experience/skills are required?

Elementary English is for students who can read short words, write some English e.g. name and address, understand simple sentences and give short answers.

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?

Speaking and Listening: Engage in discussion with another person in a familiar situation about familiar topics. Speak to communicate
basic information, feelings and opinions on familiar topics. Listen and respond to spoken language, including simple narratives.

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?

Small groups. Maximum 12. Group, pair and individual work.
All materials, worksheets provided.
Access to Smartboards and computers.

How do we assess your progress on the course?

Individual learning plans and tutorials with your teacher.

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?

Entry 1 City & Guilds Certificate or Cambridge ESOL exam

What can I do after completing this course?

Progress onto Entry 2

What extra study/practice am I expected to do outside the class?

Your teacher will give you regular homework.
