Who is the course for?

Basic ESOL Course for people whose
first language is not English.

What level is the course?

Pre-entry to Level 2

What previous knowledge/experience/skills are required?

None

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?

Speaking and Listening:
Listen to information about the use of computers, feedback this information, answer questions about computer use, describe computer parts, and describe how to turn a computer on and off.
Reading and Writing: Read and complete forms.

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?

Small groups. Maximum 12.
Group, pair and individual work.
Materials and worksheets provided.
Access to computers.

How do we assess your progress on the course?

Each student will have an Individual Learning Plan. This plan, which is regularly reviewed and updated, will provide each student with his or her short and longer term learning priorities. In addition there will be one-to-one and small group tutorials.

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?

Work towards a nationally recognised Cambridge ESOL or City and Guilds exam focusing on different skills each term.

What can I do after completing this course?

Progress onto the next level of ESOL, join the Working Men's College, find a job.

What extra study/practice am I expected to do outside the class?

Independent learning will be in the form of homework recorded on your language diary sheets.
