Who is the course for?
Students with an interest in developing their making and decorating skills in a more controlled and considered way and who are keen to research and develop their own creative ideas in ceramics.
What level is the course?
Level 2
What previous knowledge/experience/skills are required?
Experience of doing a Introductory Ceramics course would be advantageous.
Basic making and decorating skills is required.
What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
- Development of hand building and throwing skills.
- Development of surface decoration and glazing skills.
- Researching and developing individual design ideas.
- Producing final ceramic outcome in response to brief.
What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
- Demonstrations.
- Discussions.
- Practical tasks.
How do we assess your progress on the course?
- Regular individual tutorials.
- Group presentations and discussions.
- Assessment of final outcomes.
What can I do after completing this course?
You could consider doing a higher level course or continue to develop your own work.
What extra study/practice am I expected to do outside the class?
- Research in preparation for practical work.
- Collect visual resources.
- Develop ideas / designs.
- Plan individual practical studio activity.

It is recommended that you bring the following items with you:
- A3 Plastic presentation folder.
- A3 Sketchbook.
